Binh Tran

General Partner

Binh Tran is a General Partner of Ascend Vietnam Ventures. Prior to Ascend Vietnam Ventures, he was a General Partner for 500 Startups Vietnam and co-founded Klout, the Kleiner Perkins-backed social analytics company in San Francisco. Since 2012, Binh has completed over 50 seed investments.

Eddie is a General Partner of Ascend Vietnam Ventures. Previously he was a General Partner of 500 Startups Vietnam, where he completed 30+ seed investments including ApplyBoard (edtech), Trusting Social (fintech), Axie Infinity (NFT gaming), and Base (enterprise SaaS; acquired).

Hau Ly

Partner

Hau Ly is a Partner at Ascend Vietnam Ventures. She has 5+ years of experience in startup investment & support, primarily through 500 Startups Vietnam. During her time at 500, she managed three accelerator programs and was the junior lead on deals including Base (acquired), Axie Infinity (backed by Mark Cuban), and Pique (acquired). At AVV, Hau focuses on portfolio management and is currently Director for the SHINE woman-focused startup incubator.

Operations Coordinator

Mimi Duong is the Operations Coordinator at Ascend Vietnam Ventures, coordinating AVV’s women-focused incubator, SHINE, and AVV’s HR recruitment. Previously organized and ran three batches of the Saola accelerator by 500 Startups Vietnam. Proven track record of operations experience in Topica Edtech Group and Misfit Inc.

Investment Associate

Minh is an Investment Associate at Ascend Vietnam Ventures, focusing primarily on HR/Recruitment Tech, Proptech, and Retail. Prior to Ascend Vietnam Ventures, Minh had his start in venture capital at 500 Startups Vietnam, where he was junior lead on 16 deals and helped support a number of 500’s portfolio companies over 2+ years.

Analyst

Le is an Investment Analyst at Ascend Vietnam Ventures where he helps source and qualify investments in fintech, logistics, and blockchain. Prior to Ascend Vietnam, Le worked at 500 Startups Vietnam where he was the junior lead on 5 deals, Fram’s Venture Builder, and Leads Advisory at EY Vietnam.

Everything related to blockchain. Its decentralized nature has created new ways for people to access financial and other services and has created exiting new greenfield opportunities

What company or startup sector is the most underrated right now?

Esports. Professional gaming in Vietnam is still relatively nascent but is growing quickly to become mainstream with world class events and tournaments

Digging up “old but gold” movies on Netflix and discovering the latest new FPS videogames

Thao Nguyen

Investment Manager

Thao is an Investment Manager at Ascend Vietnam Ventures. Previously she was an Investment Manager of 500 Startups Vietnam, where she was the junior lead of 13 investments and was responsible for portfolio monitoring, reporting, and valuation. Prior to 500 Startups Vietnam, Thao was with Topica (an Edtech startup backed by Northstar Group, Openspace Ventures, among others), focused on Finance and Fundraising, and Deloitte Vietnam.

Trang Ngo

Investor Relations and ESGI Officer

Trang Ngo is the Investor Relations and ESGI officer of Ascend Vietnam Ventures. She started her career at the Deloitte London office as part of the Resilience and Crisis Management team, focusing on cybersecurity and Brexit. After deciding to dedicate her career to solving challenges associated with inequality, she accumulated various experiences related to ESG implementation, impact investing, and gender lens investing. Trang holds a BSc in Economics from London School of Economics and an MPA from Columbia University.

Traveling, rock climbing, visiting museums, shopping, and trying new restaurants. I am a city girl at heart
