As the year is coming to a close, we’d like to use this opportunity to take a step back and reflect on our journey so far. 2022 has been an incredibly busy and eventful year for us. We closed our inaugural seed fund, AVV Alpha, at $64 million, exceeding the initial target. To date, AVV has found and invested in 10 exceptional startups in sectors such as fintech, edtech, blockchain, AI, and social commerce. We are confident in the market outlook, our thesis, and the ability of the team to continue investing in exceptional startups in the coming year despite the challenging landscape ahead.
Besides investing, we have worked closely with valued partners like Google, Techfest, Vietnam Blockchain Summit, and Edtech Asia Summit to evangelize founders and support the broader ecosystem. One highlight was the continuation of SHINE, our women founder initiatives, in partnership with Australian DFAT. By the end of SHINE, we had worked with 60+ female founders and startup executives across Vietnam, providing them with opportunities for training, mentorship, and networking.
Another big theme for AVV is “connectivity” and in 2022, we have been able to create meaningful opportunities to bring friends in the ecosystem together through our own networking events such as the “AVV and Friends’ series (Hanoi, Saigon, Singapore), ‘Tech After Dark’ (in partnership with Young Entrepreneur Saigon and Ivy+ Partners), and an exclusive fintech social.
